For as long as I can remember I have seen the world around me as photographs. I adore the fact that we can capture a moment in time, or a feeling and immortalize it through a photograph. Life passes us by so quickly and the ability to slow it down for a second and hold on to that moment forever is what fuels my passion for photography.
I first fell in love with photography looking through my Dad’s old National Geographic magazines. I loved those insanely intense close up portraits of people from around the world. I was blown away by the emotion that was captured in those images and decided I wanted to do that someday too. I started taking pictures with a small turquoise point and shoot camera when I was eight. It was my pride and joy. I remember taking pictures at my grandparents birthday party and someone told me, “someday maybe you’ll be a photographer”. I never forgot that and although life has taken me in many different directions since then, I have finally decided to revisit that dream and try to finally make it a reality.
I am currently living in Iowa where I was born and raised and when I’m not taking pictures I am a mother of a darling & headstrong 4 year old (Harper Evelyn) and working at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital with the Heartland Mobile Health Clinic. I enjoy traveling, cooking (well honestly mostly eating), drinking wine, sampling new beer, rock climbing, yoga, hiking and spending quality time with family. I enjoy drinking coffee at any hour of the day or night and Anthropologie and ben and jerry’s “half baked” ice cream are my guilty pleasures. I have some of the best friends and family in the world and I am so grateful for their support and love.
Thank you so much for taking the time to check out my work! Please feel free to email me any questions at firstname.lastname@example.org.
With all my heart- Laura
